- Lets start sounding melodic as we play solo lead guitar! By using the notes in each chord (chord tones) we will start sounding more melodic as we play blues rock lead guitar solos. I will teach you a simple way to start playing more melodic as you improvise some blues rock lead guitar solos!!!
Thanks Rusty for another great lesson for us older beginners and guitarists in general. Really appreciate your channels.

First, Rusty!!
You always first in my book! Thanks, Jim👍
Great job Rusty, always helpful and btw, you sound good. 🎸
Thanks a lot Ronnie 👍
You can do a lot with hitting the notes in a chord , using different positions on the neck climbing up combined with the techniques you mentioned you just can’t go wrong … but playing melodic and … telling a story is the next level thing … singing melody lines in your head transposing them audibly really helps …. Listen to Hendrix and Rory Gallagher , they even sing along with the guitar lead … how cool is that …. Anyway , good tutorial that will help a lot of players 😊
I appreciate the comment. Thanks, John.👍
Ah ❤thanks so much Rusty, I feel like I have progressed 5 years, in the year or so ive been here watching you, I'm at the level these are gold dust to me and I improve but also know that theory 😊thanks bro 🎉😊
I’m glad that I’m on the Guitar journey with you Alan! Thanks so much, buddy👍

Thank you, Daniel👍
Thanks for the lesson! Very helpful as always. Like your shirt BTW, I'm going to try and guess the headstocks..fender,prs,b.c.rich gibson. Hope you're surviving the heat where your at.😊
Thanks a lot Ron! It is certainly hot here! But I just stay in the air conditioning😂
Thanks a lot ! you helped to dig me out of the rut with real music structure.
I’m glad to hear that dog! Thanks buddy👍
Excellent 💎
Thank you👍
Another good lesson here Rusty, reminds me of the song from John Hiatts Walk On track 5 "the river knows your name" a very good slow blues In "E"
I’ll check it out! Thanks👍
Hi Rusty. What a great lesson. I would love to see you do exactly what you’ve done in this lesson over a very basic E A B backing track. I just want to see how you connect it together. I’m only starting out with this type of thing.
Cheers
Hey mate! Good suggestion! Thanks for the comment Gary 👍
Rut, major 3rd, 5th
Works every time ❤️
Right on! Keep rockin bro 😎
I like your lessons ,you certainly don't live up to your name thanks Steve Manchester UK 🤘
Thanks so much, Steve! I’m glad you don’t think I’m RUSTY 😂😂😂 Good to hear from you 🤛
Thanks! I really enjoy and want to improve my melodic playing.
You’re welcome! And thank you 👍
great help as always!
Cool! Thank you 😎
This was a very helpful lesson. You’re the man. God bless you and your family can you do another lesson this in the key of G C D thank you again
I’m glad the lesson was helpful Ron! For the key of G you would just move everything up three frets from the key of E. And also for any major chord. Thanks buddy.🤛
Thank you . Long life to you
You’re welcome! Many thanks👍
thank you
You’re welcome Richard 👍
Another excellent lesson! I kept falling for the same n00b trap of just sticking to the minor pentatonics right under that E cowboy chord, and it never even occurred to me to venture out forward with some major tones.
But I'm with @thespian1961 from above in the comments; I don't think anybody would mind just one video about "Rusty" and all the wheres, whys and hows that got him to such a rockstar level.
I mean, I've only been playing guitar three years this month, and all the other kids here at the old folk's home think I'm some sort of guitar wizard, when literally all I'm doing is following what I learn in these vidyas!
Right on crash! I appreciate the comment.Have fun with the old guys👍
Hold on... let me pick my brain up off the floor, make an iced tea, and come back for round 2.
That’s a good one! You’ve got this! Thanks a lot for checking out the video👍
100k subs! Way to go!!
Thanks Donnie 👍
I have watched MANY of your videos, this is the first time I’ll say this…..tabs of this lesson would be so helpful. Regardless, great info, and thanks!
I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching my videos 👍
Interesting stuff.
Thanks a lot 👍

Thank you Dave 👍
Thx Rusty ❤
You’re welcome Jon! Thanks 👍
Thanks!
Thanks so much James! I appreciate your support buddy 👍
All day all night, love me wrong or love me right, there’s no good reason for us to fight, kiss me baby kiss me baby, and I’ll give you my heart .. tonight
Thanks a lot Jonny 👍
Hey Rusty, will this also work on acoustic guitars? Sometimes I get together with others and it would be fun to play some lead this way. Thanks for a great lesson. I need to watch a few more times before it sinks in.
Absolutely! And use the open strings often between the phrases. I hope you have fun with it! Thanks 👍
What kind of fender is that guitar you’re using rusty
I bought the Guitar used so I’m not sure the model. It’s American made with a Pearly Gates Humbucker.
Second 😢
Thanks a lot, Clifton👍
Who taught you to play Rusty?
I’m self taught. Most of what I’ve learned has been over the last five or 10 years.👍
@@rustysguitar1 Have you only been playing for 10 years?
@@Donny_A No. I have been playing since I was a teenager but the last 10 years I have put the time in to be a better player.👍
@@rustysguitar1 I got the vibe that you had been playing for a long time which is why I asked. But I also know from experience that you can learn a ton in 5-10 years if you are driven enough.
GREAT LESSON BUT COULD BE, GREATER IF YOU COULD WAS A DIAGRAM OR TABS. IN ANY EVENT I APPRECIATE THE LESSONS
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate the comment 👍
Very usefull adwice👍
Glad you think so! Thanks 👍
Thanks!
Thank you Thank you JIM!!! You really help motivate me to keep moving forward! Enjoy your weekend ✌️
